Exhibition Opening Night: Villawood: Survival+Resistance

Despite the negative portrayal of asylum seekers in our media, the Villawood Detention Centre is filled with amazing stories of survival, resistance and hope. Every day, refugees inside Villawood find ways to resist the dehumanizing restraints of our detention system.

Villawood: Survival+Resistance will present artworks, film, talks, hip hop, music, poetry, performance art about the Villawood Detention Centre and what it means for Western Sydney.

Events include:
The Refugee Art Project presents an art exhibition by detainees inside detention.

Public Rally: Stop Gas Drilling in Sydney

The Coal Seam Gas Industry is coming to the city.....

Gas company Dart Energy hold an exploration licence to drill for gas across Sydney, and have targeted a site in St Peters, behind Sydney Park, only 200m from residents and 5km from the CBD!

Residents are concerned about the impacts of the industry in such a densely populated area and have made it clear to Dart Energy over and over that they are not wanted..... but the company are pushing ahead with plans to drill anyway.
